Uni Jetstream Karimoku 4&1 Review: Wood Grip and 0.5mm Tips

Uni Jetstream x Karimoku 4&1 combines four 0.5mm Jetstream ballpoint colors and a 0.5mm mechanical pencil. Its distinctive feature is a wood grip made with Karimoku furniture material. It is a practical multi pen if you switch frequently between colors and pencil in one notebook.

What does 4&1 include?

The four inks are black, red, blue and green; the fifth writing tool is a pencil. The ballpoints use Jetstream oil-based ink, not the gel ink in a Uni-ball One 3. If you need only black, a single pen can be slimmer and simpler.

Why choose the Karimoku version?

Wood grain changes the look and contact surface of the grip, while the 4&1 format keeps multiple functions together. Natural grain varies among pens. The wood component is a reason to choose this collaboration if you value its material, not proof of a superior writing line.

Karimoku 4&1 or Pure Malt 4&1?

Marukaku's Karimoku listing uses 0.5mm ballpoint tips and a 0.5mm pencil. Its Pure Malt 4&1 has 0.7mm ballpoint tips with a 0.5mm pencil and reclaimed whisky-barrel oak. Decide first whether you want the finer 0.5mm or the broader 0.7mm ink line, then choose the wood style.
