Pilot KIRE-NA Highlighter Review: Guide Tip and 5 Colors

Pilot KIRE-NA is a dual-tip highlighter built to make it easier to follow a line of text. The five-color basic set has pink, orange, yellow, green and blue. Its distinguishing features are the Kichinto Guide beside the broad tip and the flexible nib.
What does the Kichinto Guide do?
The guide rests against the page alongside the 3.3mm tip. Pilot says it helps keep the tip aligned, including on curved book pages, and reduces excess pressure. The other end is a 0.5mm fine tip for a short underline, marginal note or small planner mark.
Will it smear writing or bleed through paper?
Pilot describes the water-based pigment ink as quick drying and designed to reduce smearing. Its published drying claim is a manufacturer test, not a promise for every pen and notebook. Let your own writing dry, then try a small sample on the same paper; check both the text and the reverse side.
Who should buy the five-color set?
It makes sense if you divide notes by topic or use different colors for different kinds of information. One color may be enough for occasional marking. The guide and two nib widths are the main reasons to consider this model.
